The Measured Room brings together works by four Adelaide-based artists who employ diverse and experimental photographic techniques in their mapping of distinctly local parameters. Di Barrett, Mark Kimber, Deborah Paauwe and Toby Richardson re-present and re-mix images of home, family, identity and heritage, shuffling ideas around an array of mixed media and new technologies including digital photography, film, sculpture, sound and light. Frames of reference vary from the family photo album to National Aeronautical and Space Administration archives, missionary histories, domestic environments and suburban streetscapes. As the subject of photography's persistent and faceted analysis, the world reappears before us within a new calibrated space, its dimensions reduced to co-axial co-ordinates, a space akin to a measured room.
The Measured Room exhibits at CCP with the assistance of Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia, Adelaide.
