Rose Nolan's Quality Photographs have developed from her practice of documenting her own work/exhibitions in print and slide form, over a number of years. This documentary use of photography previously existed as an adjunct to her practice, a necessity - without considering it's potential as a medium to work with, or as a subject in, and about, itself. However, these photographs are formally constructed with the same sensibility that informs the rest of her work (banners, constructions, text and books) where chance plays a big part. More particularly, her Quality Photographs refer directly to previous photographs and subsequently become the subject of future photographic production and documentation... and so it goes on. Hence, ANOTHER SET OF QUALITY PHOTOGRAPHS.
