I collect things. Beginning as a small child I collected objects but logistically over the years this impulse became a storage problem. Now I work with what I already have or other peoples' collections and only collect things that are ephemeral. My particular interest is in trying to capture images of moments in time. These are not records of history in the making or earth shattering events but reminders of the small things that fill our lives.
Keep Clear was photographed from my lounge room window in North Melbourne in 1998. This series of images documents a chance viewing of two men making a large alteration to the streetscape. The whole process is documented from the chalk markings, the laying out of tape on the road to the finished, painted sign.
