The invention of the technology of oil paint had a profound effect on the artist's use of colour. While the impact of 'new' digital technologies has been widely discussed in the last decade, the impact of these technologies on colour, the most primary tool of art making, has been little examined. The difficulty of accurate colour reproduction, which has plagued art publishing for many years now, is today further stretched through the introduction of scanners, powerful software and other technologies which tamper with the integrity of colour. This exhibition involves ten large-scale digital prints which investigate the use of colour in contemporary art through paint dots, high resolution scanning techniques and computer manipulation.
